In my academic career I've had around 50 different professors and only one stands out as being truly Awesome: Dr. Elizabeth Koebele. She is incredibly engaged with her students, extremely knowledgeable on a range of topics, and she has a sense of humor and confidence that is unmatched in this, or any other, department. She is a competitive bike racer in her spare time, works to protect and study water rights in Lake Tahoe, and never misses a change to help out when you need help or offer assistance even when you don't know you need it. If every teacher were like her the world would be a better place. She works ten hour days and still managed to have time to bake for a department retirement party (the theme of which was baking, of course). She loves what she does and her students love her and if that isn't the embodiment of Awesomeness then we just need to redefine the term.
