My daughter is awesome because she inspires me and other people around her to do more. Last year one of her classmates failed a homework assignment because she did not have paper and pencil at home and was to embarrassed to tell the teacher. Kaitlyn came to me wanting to help her and then said she started wondering how many other kids were failing for the same reason. She asked me to help her create a facebook page and then asked the local church, her school, and a friend of mine to set up donation boxes to collect supplies. Her first year she collected enough school supplies for 175 students. This year she started an afterschool club Backpacks 4 Kids Az and got more students involved. With the help of other students and local business she was able to supply 300 students with backpacks full of supplies. She is now expanding her efforts and doing a donation drive for hygiene products and toys for kids entering foster care and shelters.
