Valerianne Hinkley
NOMINEE

Nominated by Jennie L Bouchard-Young
November 17, 2021
I nominate Valerianne Hinkley, 19 year old sophomore at the University of Maine at Farmington for her BE BOLD STAND UP TO BULLYING and spreading kindness platform she created in 2017 after surviving bullying in high school. Valerianne has spent many hundreds of hours each year bring smiles to strangers with her projects. She places appreciation flowers with messages on vehicles, in teachers school boxes, and on doors. Valerianne has done her positive words post-it notes on school lockers in high school, gone to other schools to do and has continued them in college during covid by placing them in the bathrooms of dorms. She has also made several goodie baskets for both police and fire departments thanking them for their service. During covid, she has placed homemade stress balls on vehicles of medical staff. In addition, Valerianne does several projects such as planting seedlings of veggies and donated them to nursing homes once they grow big enough, made holiday decorations for nursing homes and have made plant pots she donated to them. Valerianne also knits and donates newborn hats (over 300 in the last 4 years) and donates to many other people's causes for homeless shelters, veterans, homeless people, non profits and many more. These are just some of the many projects she does all year round and with her own money to spread kindness. Between 2020 and 2021 Valerianne has volunteered more than 600 hours earning the Gold Presidents Volunteer Service Award each year. Her year is bigger than she is and that is why I nominate her.

I have watched this beautiful soul since the day she was born and can not be prouder of the young lady she has become. It is my honor to be her mother.
