Andrea Scott is an award-winning bilingual children’s author, educator, and owner of Smile Big Dream Bigger. Smile Big Dream Bigger is a bilingual tutoring program that challenges scholars to learn a new language and improve their academic studies. She is the ideal candidate for the because she goes above and beyond to provide her exceptional teaching skills to students all around the world. She currently does teaching consultation in different schools in the St. Louis area, and she owns her own online bilingual tutoring program where she teaches English as a Second language to scholars in different countries. She is a strong advocate of pursuing the importance of having an education, and she makes it her duty to inspire individuals to never give up on their education goals. When she noticed that students were falling behind in school, she stayed after school and provided her service for free to low-income families, and the student’s assessment grades increased from below to proficiency and advanced.
Ms. Scott believes that education is the only way to fulfill one’s dream. Ms. Scott created Smile Big, Dream Bigger to support her community and to give tribute to her ancestors. Like her ancestors, she was told by many people throughout her life and even her own teachers of all the things she would not be able to do. For instance, she was told by a Spanish college professor that she would never be able to learn Spanish. However, she did not let naysayers stop her from achieving, instead, it pushed her to keep going and motivated her to become a teacher and support their dreams. She wrote and published multiple affirmation children’s books( Smile Big Dream Bigger, The Bigger the Fro, the More I know, and No Limit to Greatness) to inspire minority students to always dream big and she encourages them to believe that their lives matter.
