Denise Byers is an award winning author and an award winning poet with 30 years of experience as a professional writer in communications, marketing, and public affairs. Denise wrote and published her first book for children, Princess Lydia and the Fire Breathing Dragon, which won a Bronze Character Building Counts (CBC) Book Award. In 2019, Denise released her first poetry book which is a lyrical and heartfelt expression of the mental illness Denise has struggled with for decades. The book, Shattered, won a Book Excellence Award. Denise’s primary focus is to create and publish works that send educational messages of resiliency, empowerment and acceptance, all while entertaining readers. Denise co-founded DanDeeLion Publishing with her daughter, Danielle Gray. Denise is a Bachelor of Arts graduate of York University in Toronto, Canada, with a major in Sociology. A mother of three adult children, Denise resides in Whitby, Ontario Canada, a suburb of Toronto, Ontario Canada.
