I would like to nominate Edie Young! She is a DC High Schooler and also an activist and artist who loves to get involved in her community. She founded We Are Artistic in 2019 for artists, artistic people, and people who appreciate art. It started as a Facebook group, but later the group expanded and people worldwide started joining. They love to work with other communities. Their group also partners with Cards for Hospitalized Kids to host card-making events around the DMV. They have made over 380 cards!
Edie is also currently working to make her school more inclusive for all after noticing people tend to use slurs and not be kind to those who are disabled. She started the Disability Justice Fair and Queer Visibility Fair, which brought people around the school together to learn and get educated in a fun and interesting way. She noticed there was no place for people with disabilities to hang out in her school, so she started the Disability Student Alliance to bring disabled folks and their allies together.
